The Journal Project

Happy New Year Guys!

I've been thinking about committing to a fun creative project for this brand new year, but I found it difficult to find something I liked.
I enjoyed taking a picture every single day in 2012, but I wanted to find something different this year.

It's a fact that I'm a journal collector and the Lord may know how many are waiting to be used, so I figured that it would be nice to get more into journalling.

So I did a little research, some mix and matching, and this is what I came up with.

The base of the project I'm going to do is the 52 Lists Project, which was originally created by blogger Moorea Seale, and followed by many.

What Is The 52 Lists Project?
You make a list every week, for a whole year, 52 weeks.
Lists like 'Things That Make Me Happy' or 'My Bucket List' will be lovely to look back on when we're older.

If you feel uninspired, you can check out these lists: Carrie Loves and MeetMeatMikes .

The Weekly Three
Every week we'll be writing down these 3 things, I think it's lovely to remember what we were listening to, or what we were watching in this time of our life.
I added the quote of the week because I think it's good to write down motivational quotes, and making this a 'routine' thing is educational and good for our souls.
  1. Song of the Week
  2. Movie / TV Show of the Week
  3. Quote of the Week
The Everyday Part
Every day of the year we are going to describe our day in one word, let's hope that it will be a lot of happy ones!

And that's about it guys, it isn't a very difficult Project, but in my opinion a lot of fun.
Initially I created this project for myself, but it would be amazing if any of my readers could join in, definitely let me know!

I hope you all have an amazing 2014,
Much Love,
Ray.

Review: MAC Face & Body Foundation

Hi Guys,

You may or may not know that I enjoy taking care of myself and I'm not a afraid of a lil' make-up.
But since I'm a guy, I prefer not to draw attention to the fact that I'm wearing makeup by keeping it natural, but sometimes that's easier said than done.
Also, I find it hard to find something between a tinted moisturizer and a full on foundation, but I think I may have found something that works for me!

I've had my eyes on the Face & Body Foundation for a while now, reading mixed reviews about it, eventually decided I had to see for myself.

I'm normally a NW20 in MAC's [select moisturecover] concealer, and after a quick color check with the makeup artist at the MAC counter, we decided that I'm an N2.

Originally I wanted to get the 120ml bottle, but turns out they only sell that in the MAC Pro store [more than double product for only 8 bucks more], so I went for the 50ml instead [boohoo].

The foundation comes out really in a really watery consistency, but as you buff the product in, it gets thicker and this way you can create more coverage. I love this because this way I can just apply this to my entire face, and parts that I want more coverage, I just work it in a little harder, perfect!

Even though most people suggest applying the foundation with your hands, I prefer using the Real Techniques stippling brush, it gives it a bit more of an HD finish.

I was in doubt wether or not to post a before and after picture, but I figured this wouldn't be a proper review if I didn't, so here we go. [never mind my face]

I  mirrored the picture, so the blemishes and freckles you see left, would've been on the exact same places in the right picture. Pretty decent coverage, right?
I hope this review was of any use for some of you, and if you have any questions, let me know.

Ciao, Ray.

Analogue Adventure: London

As you may or may not know, I visited my all time favorite city London earlier this summer, and I had an amazing time.
I took my beloved Olympus Trip 35 camera with me, and I got the film developed earlier this week, this is how they turned out, hope you enjoy!

INSTAX MINI // VOLUME 2

Hello Everyone,
I can't believe that my previous Instax Mini post [volume 1] was over half a year ago, it's not that I haven't been shooting, I just haven't made the time to scan the exposures, silly!
You analogue shutterbugs probably know how it gets though, the 'to scan' pile of pictures keeps building up and at some point you're just like 'ok let's do this!', haha.

Well, enough chitchat, here are pictures.

| April Snaps |

What a lovely month April was, finally spring showed up a couple of times!
I enjoy the sun so much, it makes me such a happier person.
I spent quite a few days enjoying some drinks and lunch's in the sun, I also passed for my driving theory test, I'm still so happy about that!
If everything goes as planned I'll be having my full drivers license this mid summer, yay!

This month I got a new tattoo, it's a music note [treble clef] on my wrist, read about the meaning here.

I hope you guys had a lovely April too!

The Art Of Traveling Alone

Hi Guys,
Today I wanted to talk about something a little different, this is not about photography [that much] or fashion, it's about traveling solo, and why you should!

A lot of people can't see the beauty of traveling alone, and some might even think you're crazy for doing it. And maybe it is a bit out of the ordinary, but who cares? Take a chance!

Last year I went traveling alone for the first time, and I fell in love with the entire 'traveling solo' concept, right away. It's only normal for you to be a little nervous, but trust me, with the right preparation, there's nothing to worry about.

Be Prepared

As much as I love to 'seize the moment', I also like to be super prepared at the same time. When it comes to traveling, this isn't a bad thing.
Especially when you're on your own, you want to make really sure you have everything well prepared.
I always feel like the part from the airport to the accommodation is where us solo travelers have to be a bit careful, but once checked in and settled down, that's when the fun begins.

  1. Research how and how long it's gonna take to get to your accommodation, when possible I recommend ordering tickets for public transport in advance, in the comfort of your own home.
  2. Keep your hand luggage well organized, keep all your documents in a sturdy pouch or folder, and keep it in an easy to access place. I recommend making copies of everything and keeping those in a different place.
  3. Carry enough cash, but don't keep it all in one place. [this one's common sense really]

Enjoy, Alone

So, now you're there, on your own, what are you going to do?
Go out, explore, get lost, live
I can not express in words how lovely it is to wander around in a strange city, not having to discuss any left or right turn you take, enjoying the different surroundings.
Me being a film photography fanatic, I enjoy walking around with my polaroid camera, capturing all the lovely things around me.
Here are some tips of places I like to visit:
  1. Shopping area's, especially antique markets, thrift shops and artsy neighborhoods.
  2. Museums and art gallery's.
  3. Big, old library's.
  4. Starbucks [great place to sit down, write in your travel journal and be surrounded with other people].
  5. Take a walk [or run!] down the park.

So if you ever get the chance to travel alone, I really think you should give it a try!

| March Snaps |

I almost forgot to post my instagram pictures for the month March, just like my friend Nieke , but fortunately she tweeted about her post, so reminded me of it. Thanks doll!

This month was a very busy month, had some work meetings I had to attend to, did some shopping, etc.
Lush's So White bath bomb and an Hermes brochure I got in the mail.
My beloved Red chucks and a brand new scented candle which smells like Apple's!
There's no use in throwing away faded Polaroids, so I write quote's on 'em!
My new Vans, perfect summer shoes!
Cloudy day and my DIY'ed studded iPhone case.
Sweater with leather shoulder pieces + New Vans
Pretty Coffee and me waiting on the bus.
New yellow sweater and my [uncomfortable] Adidas kicks.
Bought my first MAC product and Sephora was having a sale.
New denim jacket and a pretty turquoise easter egg.
